Bluebonnet's Super Fruit Vegetarian SOD 250 IU Cantaloupe Melon Fruit Extract Capsules provide the first orally effective, vegetarian form of superoxide dismutase (SOD) from cantaloupe melon in a gliadin complex, known as GliSODin. SOD is considered the body's master cellular defense enzyme that helps neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals. Each capsule provides 250 mg of the SOD/Gliadin Complex, which delivers 250 IU of SOD. GliSODin uses a proprietary process of integrating SOD from degradation in the digestive tract. Available in easy-to-swallow vegetable capsules for maximum assimilation and absorption.

Q.What is Superoxide dismutase?
A.Superoxide dismutases are a class of enzymes that catalyzethe dismutation ofsuperoxide into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. As such, they are an important antioxidant defense in nearly all cells exposed to oxygen. One of the exceedingly rare exceptions is Lactobacillus plantarum and related lactobacilli, which use a different mechanism.

Q.How does it work?
A.Superoxide dismutase is an enzyme that helps break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells, which might prevent damage to tissues. It is being researched to see if it can help conditions where oxygen molecules are believed to play a role in disease.

Q.What are Food Sources of Superoxide Dismutase?
A.Barley grass, wheatgrass, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage and cantaloupe are food source of Superoxide Dismutase.

Q.What are uses of Superoxide Dismutase?
A.By injection:
• Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
• Lung problems in newborn infants.
• A kidney condition (interstitial cystitis).
• Reducing heart damage after a heart attack

Q.What are side effects of Superoxide Dismutase?
A.Injectable (shot) forms of superoxide dismutase that have been used in research studies appear to be safe. Some superoxide dismutase products are obtained from animal sources, raising concern about contamination from sick or diseased animals. Though there are no reports of people getting sick after using superoxide dismutase products taken from animals, it’s best to avoid products from animal sources until more is known.
