Norepinephrine and Dopamine are key neurotransmitters for the maintenance of alertness and mental acuity while promoting a feeling of general well-being. These two neurotransmitters are produced in the body from amino acid precursors, L-Tyrosine and L-Phenylalanine. This conversion process also requires Vitamin C and B-6 as cofactors. NOW True Focus combines these important nutrients with other ingredients like Ginkgo biloba and DMAE to maximize mental agility without any stimulating side effects.

Suggested Use:

As a dietary supplement, take 1-2 Vcaps 1 to 2 times daily between meals, or use as directed by a health practitioner.

Q.What are the functions of Phenylalanine?
A. Phenylalanine is a precursor for tyrosine, another type of amino acid that is needed to make neurotransmitters, such as L-dopa, thyroid hormones that affect metabolism, and adrenal hormones such as noradrenaline and adrenaline. L-dopa and noradrenaline affect mood, which is why different forms of phenylalanine have been proposed to treat depression. Phenylalanine is also needed to make melanin, the skin pigment.

Q.What are the food sources of Phenylalanine?
A.L-phenylalanine is found naturally in the breast milk of all mammals and in many protein-rich foods such as beef, chicken, pork, fish, milk, yogurt, eggs, cheese, soybeans, tofu and some nuts, seeds and legumes. The artificial sweetener aspartame metabolizes into phenylalanine and other compounds.

Q. How Phenylalanine is used for Depression?
A.Though everyone feels depressed from time to time, a depressive disorder does not subside on its own. Though the cause is not known, it is likely that depression is caused by a variety of factors that disrupt normal neurotransmitter signaling. Treatments commonly used for depression include antidepressant medication to improve neurotransmitter levels and therapy. Therapy can aid in changing behaviors, lifestyles or learning to avoid situations that may lead to depressive episodes or make depression
